Chairman EU Military Committee first visit to Georgia

The Chairman of the EU Military Committee, General Robert Brieger travelled to Georgia on 8-10 February. His first official visit to the country provided the opportunity to discuss and exchange views on regional security matters.

The visit’s purpose was to deepen military-to-military discussions on several EU Security and Defence agenda priorities. The Chairman attended a meeting with Georgian representatives presided by Major General Giorgi Matiashvili, Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces. During this presentation, he received an overview about the security environment of wider Black Sea Region.

During his stay in Tbilisi, General Brieger attended a wreath laying ceremony at Heroes Square.
