Local early recovery & resilience-building: meeting needs more sustainably, supporting people’s dignity, and better managing risks across Syria
Syrian perspectives will highlight the challenges and opportunities for women in particular, and point to some of the priorities that future early recovery programming should take forward.
Donor, institutional, and practitioner interventions will outline the value of early recovery to the international humanitarian response in present day Syria, provide concrete examples (including through a short film), and directly address how the range of risks associated with early recovery can be effectively managed across the whole of Syria. Speakers include:
- James Cleverly, UK Minister of State
- Imran Riza, UN Resident Coordinator and Humanitarian Coordinator, Syria
- Jonathan Hargreaves, UK Special Representative for Syria, Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office
- Women beneficiaries from livelihoods intervention (pre-recorded video)
- Mike Robson, Country Representative, the Food and Agriculture Organization, Syria Office (including a short film)
- Syrian civil society and thought leader on priorities for early recovery and the role of women
The event will be livestreamed on @UKforSyria’s Facebook page.
