Turkana is in the North-West of Kenya where the remains of early man were found, giving it the name “Cradle of Mankind.”

“Since peace is a pre-requisite for any development, it needs to be sustained and supported by other pillars of development," Hubert Perr, Head of Cooperation and Charge d 'Affairs a.i said at the event.

Celebrating culture provides a platform for integration and peace building among conflicting communities. This is one of the objectives of the Selam Ekisil, or SEEK project, funded by European Union Trust Fund for Africa. Thus it was natural for the SEEK project and its consortium partners to be partners at the annual fête which attracted thousands of local and international participants, including Kenya's Deputy President, William Ruto, and former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
