The EU in Lesotho supports a project called the Child friendly gender sensitive ecological and sustainable school sanitation systems in urban and peri-urban areas in Lesotho. The project is managed by local NGO, Technologies for Economic Development (TED) and it aims to increase school children's access to sustainably improved child friendly, gender sensitive and ecological sanitation systems. The project operates in urban and peri-urban areas in Lesotho. It targeted schools that either were not equipped with any sanitation facilities; schools with non-functional sanitation facilities and schools with unhygenic latrines. Some of the schools are linked to orphanages that did not have safe sanitation facilities.
