EU Ambassadors Conference 2025: Annual Conference of EU Ambassadors starts in Brussels on Monday 3 February
The annual European Union Ambassadors Conference, entitled ‘EU Foreign Policy that Delivers’ will take place between 3 and 7 February in Brussels. The conference is the first one under the new EU leadership and hosted by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice-President of the Commission Kaja Kallas.
The programme will focus on advancing the EU's foreign policy priorities in view of significant geopolitical shifts throughout the world, including the third year of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, the conflict in the Middle East, and the situation in Syria following the fall of Assad’s regime.
The participants will have the opportunity to discuss with the leaders of the EU institutions and other high-level speakers, the European Union’s response to developments and challenges outside EU’s borders and give their insights from the ground. The conference will allow to review the EU’s outreach around the world and to discuss strategic priorities and tasks for the next months and years.
Held annually, the conference brings together EU Ambassadors from the over 145 EU Delegations and Offices of the EU around the world, in addition to the Heads of the EU military and civilian missions and the Heads of the European Commission Representations in all 27 EU Member States.
HR/VP Kaja Kallas will open the conference with a public address on Monday, 3 February, at 9:00. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola will address the gathering on Tuesday, 4 February, at 9:30. This will be followed by the keynote speech of European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen at 11:30. European Council President Antonio Costa will address the Ambassadors at 14:00 on the same day. All interventions will be broadcasted live on EbS.
The Ambassadors’ Conference will also include exchanges with the Commission Executive Vice-Presidents Teresa Ribera Rodríguez and EVP Henna Virkunnen, as well as Commissioners Maroš Šefčovič, Dubravka Šuica, Jozef Síkela, Hadja Lahbib, Marta Kos, Michael McGrath, Magnus Brunner, and Andrius Kubilius.
The Secretary-General of NATO, Mark Rutte, UN Deputy Secretary-General, Amina Mohammed, and President of the European Investment Bank, Nadia Calviño, will also be present.
Background
The EU Ambassadors’ Conference is a yearly event that allows for an open exchange between participants and high-level speakers on the European Union’s external representation, activities, global developments, and the EU’s strategic outlook.
This year’s topics focus on the uncertain geopolitical world order, with an emphasis on EU Diplomacy that delivers results. Sessions include discussions on EU foreign policy in light of geopolitical changes, the Future of EU security and defence, Enlargement and completing our Union, hybrid warfare and the manipulation of information; the EU’s crisis response, the digital transition, public Diplomacy and how the EU can work more closely with its allies.
