UAE: 7th Structural Dialogue with the EU on anti-money laundering and counter terrorism-financing held in Abu Dhabi
The seventh round of expert level Structural Dialogue on anti-money laundering and counter terrorism-financing (AML/CFT) between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) took place in Abu Dhabi on 13 November.
Conducted in a forward-looking atmosphere, the meeting contributed to the comprehensive bilateral partnership between the EU and UAE on the basis of the 2022 EU Joint Communication on a Strategic Partnership with the Gulf.
The two sides exchanged on the common trends and challenges in the fight against money laundering and financing of terrorism, underscoring commitment to continue enhancing collaboration between the UAE and the EU on this important matter. The EU emphasized the importance of law enforcement and judicial cooperation between the UAE and EU Member States, as well as relevant EU bodies.
The meeting was co-chaired by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the UAE, the EEAS/EU Delegation to the UAE and the European Commission.
The next round of Structural Dialogue on AML/CFT will be held in Brussels in the beginning of 2025.
