The EU actively supports digital infrastructure and trade, cybersecurity, and digital skills’ development in the Indo-Pacific region. Enhanced digital partnerships drive innovation and prepare the way for a human-centric, inclusive digital transformation.
Digital Partnerships
The digital economy has the potential for significant innovation and growth. Efforts are required to deliver a human-centric digital transition. The EU and partners are focused on addressing the digital divide in order to remedy existing inequalities.
- Digital partnerships concluded between the EU and Japan (May 2022), the Republic of Korea (November 2022) and Singapore (February 2023)
- Negotations started on binding digital trade agreements with Singapore and the Republic of Korea (2023)
- The EU and Japan concluded an agreement on cross-border data flow in In October 2023.
