Together for Detainees, IDPs and Refugees: A Syrian Women Call
The side event will leverage the extensive groundwork laid by the Space for Collaboration and its policy papers to shed light, through a gender-sensitive lens, on critical issues such as detainees and missing persons, refugees, and women's participation in the political process. The proposed agenda is as follows:
- Detainees and Missing Persons:
We are mobilizing stakeholders to collaborate with the Independent Institution on Missing Persons (IIMP) and bolster support for women and civil society efforts, including victims' associations, to address detainee-related challenges.
- IDPs and Refugees:
We are exploring concerns, challenges, and the pivotal role of women and civil society in fostering social cohesion amidst refugee populations.
There will be support for the UN-led Syrian Peace Talks based on SCR 2254 and Women's Participation in Peace and Security based on SCR 1325: Fostering sustainable peace by enhancing women's involvement in Syria's political landscape through supporting the younger generation and advancing local solutions for peace and security in Syria.
