Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to ZAMBIA AND COMESA - Political, Press and Information Section
Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Zambia?
We offer:
A traineeship of 6 months within the Political, Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Zambia, starting in May2025.
The Political, Press and Information Section is responsible for political analysis and reporting, relations with the Government of Zambia and its institutions as well as coordination of EU Member States. It also covers press and information activities, including press statements, the coordination of press events and relations with local and international press.
Main tasks:

Assist in the analysis of the political situation in Zambia and the development of EU/Zambia cooperation, research specific topics of interest

Draft briefings, speeches and assist with reporting on political and socio-economic issues

Draft, proof-read and edit documents, including for public and social media

Support communication and visibility outreach, including on social media

Support organisation of visibility events under the supervision of the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section

Assist the Head of the Political, Press and Information Section in ad-hoc tasks
We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:

At least a Bachelor’s Degree in International Relations, Political Science or similar studies

Proven interest in African political affairs

Prior experience in Africa, in international institutions or foreign policy is considered an advantage

Excellent spoken and written English, additional language skills are an asset
-
Very good knowledge of the EU institutions and policies

Excellent time-management skills as well as strong communication skills
-
Adaptability, ability to work under pressure and a proactive approach towards assigned tasks

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).
Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.
Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.
The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:
- must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
- must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
