Feminist Response To Emergency Crisis: Role of women led organizations: reflections-learning and accountability
The primary objective of this side event is to showcase the effectiveness and impact of feminist crisis response strategies as exemplified by Women Now for Development’s (WND) earthquake response. Through a detailed examination of WND’s initiatives, the event aims to elucidate the core principles and practices of feminist crisis response, providing insights for donors, humanitarian organizations, and women-led initiatives worldwide.
The conversation will focus on gaps and challenges based on WND long learning process and collected evidence based on its 3-stages feminist response to the affected communities and women after the Earthquake in Turkey and Syria in 2023, trends in feminist movements’ organizing strategies.
WND will present a Case study on their response to the earthquake in Syria and Turkey which captures the conceptualization of what is understood as crisis/compounded crises, what are building blocks for feminist responses, and main strategies from the perspective of frontline activists, women's organizations, and feminist funds.
