Early recovery program in Syria, Prospects, and challenges

29.04.2024

Organiser: Syrian democratic alliance

The international community has begun to move towards early recovery projects, urging Syrian communities to support themselves and build their resilience.

With the cessation of major hostilities, and following Security Council Resolution 2642 of 9 July, the early recovery process is an integrated, comprehensive, and coordinated process, aimed at gradually transforming the benefits of humanitarian action into a sustainable recovery from crises, establishing resilience and development opportunities, and shaping social change.

Thus, it will reduce the human tragedy associated with all political, security, and economic problems, that have not been resolved, and reduce the catastrophic conditions experienced by the Syrian people and their exacerbation after the earthquake.

This side event will address three issues:

- the characteristics of early recovery that distinguish it from reconstruction and who are the potential partners.
- the benefits and repercussions of the application of the early recovery program on Syrians everywhere.
- the challenges of early recovery related to the Syrian context.
