The side event highlights the importance of integrating governance structures into early recovery efforts in Syria. It emphasises the role of civil society in ensuring transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in decision-making processes. It also underscores the need for robust monitoring and evaluation mechanisms to prevent resource misuse. Additionally, it proposes early education initiatives to empower women and civil society to actively participate in shaping recovery efforts.

The objective is to explore the extent to which governance structures and de facto authorities are engaged in early recovery efforts in Syria, examine the role of civil society in bridging the gap between various actors, and discuss success indicators and monitoring mechanisms to ensure the effectiveness of these efforts and prevent the misuse of resources by actors. The objective is to promote early education initiatives targeting women and civil society to enhance their participation in governance and decision-making processes related to early recovery.
