Who we are
The European Union Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago was officially established in 1976, approximately one year after the first Lomé (aid and trade partnership) Convention came into being. The Delegation represents the EU in all matters related to the partnership with Trinidad and Tobago. Since its establishment, the EU has supported the economic and social development of Trinidad and Tobago with over EUR 300 million.
About the EU Delegation to Trinidad and Tobago
The Delegation of the European Union in Trinidad and Tobago is part of the European Union External Service and is one of the 144 Delegations around the world. The Delegation has the status of a diplomatic mission and officially represents the European Union (EU) in Trinidad and Tobago
The main responsibilities of the Delegation can be summarized as follows:
- Representation of the European Union to Trinidad and Tobago.
- Follow up of bilateral relations in the areas of political, economic, trade and development cooperation, including through a formal political dialogue.
- Follow up of EU policies in all sectors.
- Promotion of and defense of the values and interests of the EU.
- Collaboration with the EU Member States’ Embassies and coordination in the fields of EU competencies.
- Carrying out Common Foreign and Security Policy proceedings.
- Reporting back to Headquarters on all matters of interest for EU policies.
- Ensuring the multi-annual programming of development aid and the management of development programs and projects.
- Carrying out press and public diplomacy activities in pursuit of all the above.
