Message from the Ambassador

Dear visitor,

I am pleased to welcome you to the website of the Delegation of the European Union in the Togolese Republic.

Through this communication tool, we wish to contribute to nourish our dialogue and provide useful information not only on the evolution of the Togo-European Union partnership but also on the global policy of the European Union, its achievements, development, its values and its place in the world.

This website also allows you to learn about our funding procedures and calls for proposals.

At the side of Togo since independence, the European Union is by far the first partner in the development of this country. The European Union has based its development strategy in Togo on an in-depth political dialogue and the respect of mutual commitments. Within the framework of the EU-ACP Agreement, the European Union Delegation intends to continue its efforts alongside the Togolese government and population to support and encourage the country's social and economic development.

The EU has become a major political actor interested in conflict management and prevention, as well as in democracy and good governance. Together with the African Union, we have built an Africa-Europe partnership that is based on common values and interests.

The European Union and its Member States are major economic partners for Togo. Therefore, the EU Delegation pays particular attention to the development of trade relations as well as to macro-economic and sectoral policies.

I wish you a good virtual walk on the concrete tracks of our cooperation and partnership.

Gwilym Ceri Jones, Ambassador of the European Union to Togo.
