The European Union (EU) and the Kingdom of Thailand established diplomatic relations on 28 August 1962. The Delegation of the European Union to Thailand was opened in 1979. It is headed by an Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, the Delegation is the diplomatic mission of the European Union, ensuring the political representation of the Union in Thailand, the Local Presidency of the European Union as well as other aspects of the Union’s foreign and security policy and external relations.

The Delegation is one of over 140 EU Delegations around the world.

Our Mission

The Delegation's mandate includes the following:

  • To promote the political and economic relations between Thailand and the EU by maintaining extensive relations with governmental institutions, and by increasing awareness of the EU, its institutions and its programmes.
  • To inform the public of the development of the EU and to explain and defend individual EU policies.
  • To participate in the implementation of the EU's assistance programmes.
