Ассалому алейкум,

In the 30 years of diplomatic relations, our partnership has grown stronger and it is my ambition to bring it into an even higher level in the years to come. European Union and Tajikistan cooperate very closely in the key areas related to the security, sustainable development, modernisation, creating new opportunities for the young generations of the country. I believe that this relationship will contribute to Tajikistan’s development to become strong and prosperous country, excellent country to live.    

European Union engagement in Tajikistan at first covered mostly humanitarian assistance and reconstruction. Gradually, the EU became one of the key donors, supporting sustainable development, new opportunities and modernisation in key sectors such as rural development, healthcare and education. In line with the priorities of the Government of Tajikistan, we look towards the future prosperity and potential of the talented young generation. In close cooperation with our Member States and partners we seek ways to promote entrepreneurship, job creation and new skills tailored for the labour market. We see a great potential in digitalisation and connectivity. With respect to environmental concerns and climate change adaption, we support green transition, energy efficiency and regional cooperation on strategic use of natural resources like water and energy. We promote human rights, good governance and a resilient society. Erasmus+ welcomes Tajik students to attend European universities.

We face many challenges, in Tajikistan, in Europe, globally. Let us address them in partnership, with an open mind searching for new opportunities to make our relations grow stronger in all areas of cooperation, to the benefit of the people of Tajikistan.
