PROJECTS
EU Projects in Singapore
The EU Delegation to Singapore hosts several public diplomacy and trade events. Due to the ongoing pandemic, several of these were presented in a digital format.
EU-Singapore Think Tank Dialogue
Launched in 2019, the Dialogue series brings together EU and Singapore think tanks to stimulate high-level discussion about topics that are of mutual interest and concern for EU-Singapore relations. By raising the profile of such topics, the EU contributes to further expanding exchanges between the think tank communities in Singapore and the EU enabling them to chart out possible new avenues for cooperation.
Five think tank dialogues have been organized to date, covering non-traditional security, connectivity, economic security and openness through the implementation of the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement, advancing climate action, and opportunities for strengthening multilateralism.
EUFF
The European Film Festival, popularly known as EUFF, is the EU’s flagship cultural event in Singapore. It brings Singapore and European communities together and opens up an important space for inter-cultural dialogue through cinema. The festival presents films from all over Europe, reflecting on the diversity of perspectives, histories, languages and cultures from across the continent. After a year’s hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the EUFF presented its landmark 30th edition in May 2021, by returning into the movie hall. This project is funded by EU’s Foreign Policy Instruments. #EUForeignPolicy
The digital edition of EU in Singapore’s popular higher education fair saw the participated of 150 universities from across Europe. Over 15,000 visitors from South-East Asia attended.
The second edition of this joint public diplomacy project organised by the EU Delegation and EU Member States embassies in April-May 2021 reached out to over 10,000 students. Ambassadors and senior diplomats visited 27 education institutes island-wide.
Europe Day 2021
As celebrating Europe Day in person this year was not possible due to the ongoing pandemic, we moved online to mark the 9th of May. In 2021 our Guest-of-Honour was Dr. Mohamad Maliki bin Osman, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Second Minister of Education and of Foreign Affairs. We were joined by Ambassadors of EU Member States accredited to Singapore in this virtual celebration and had a special performance by the Singapore Police Force Band.

SEA AiR
Studio Residencies in the EU for Southeast Asian Artists
In March 2021, the EU Delegation to Singapore in collaboration with the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore launched the Studio Residencies in the EU for Southeast Asian Artists (SEA AiR) project. This new initiative aims to create a peer-to-peer cultural and artistic exchange between Southeast Asia and Europe, with Singapore as its hub. Over 2021-2023, SEA AiR aims to bring six emerging Singaporean or Southeast Asian artists to the EU. SEA AiR will promote a creative exchange enhancing the EU-Singapore-ASEAN dialogue through contemporary art and provide a meaningful opportunity for artists who have previously not lived or studied in the EU. This project is funded by EU’s Foreign Policy Instruments. #EUForeignPolicy
