Enhancing Grass-root CSO’s Engagement in Monitoring REDD+ Programs in Vietnam
Overall objectives |
To increase transparency, accountability and good governance when REDD+ programmes are regularly monitored and reported by grassroots Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), including Vietnamese Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Community Based Organisations (CBOs).

Specific objectives |
To develop and implement a Forest Change Independent Monitoring (FCIM) mechanism for CSOs to monitor forest changes within the framework of the Emission Reduction Programme (ER-P) in six North Central Coast (NCC) provinces of Vietnam and advocate for formalising it.

Brief summary / description |
The project will enhance CSOs' engagement in tackling climate change and mitigating its adverse effects in Vietnam, which is “Actions that facilitate and promote grassroots CSOs in monitoring of REDD+ (Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation) and PFES (Payment for Forest Environmental Services).

Expected results |
1) Capacity of CSOs, CBOs and local communities on REDD+ monitoring reinforced. 2) FCIM system developed, formalised for FCIM network to monitor the forest change within the framework of ER-P in Nghe An province. 3) Platforms created for CSOs and policy makers to discuss findings and recommendations from REDD+ monitoring reports.
