About the Ambassador
I am pleased to welcome you to the EU website in Paraguay. I want to explain to you the reasons why we have a diplomatic mission in this country. With Paraguay, we share traditions and cultural exchanges, history, values and objectives. The country is an important political and commercial partner in the region. The EU is one of Paraguay's main trading partners and the largest foreign investor. Likewise, we recognize the role of the country in defending multilateralism.
Message from the Ambassador
Ambassador Javier García de Viedma
Paraguay has been a key player in Mercosur and in other multilateral spaces. We must continue to work closely to overcome the great challenges we face.
The European Union is one of the main contributors to the development of the country. Through our cooperation, we work with Paraguay to promote its development with a people-centered agenda, the aim of which is to leave no one behind. In this sense, we support the country to meet its priorities within the Sustainable Development Goals established in the 2030 Agenda.
Finally, the EU Delegation also works so that the European Union is better known in Paraguay and at the same time so that Paraguay, with all its beauty and the warmth of its inhabitants, is better known in Europe.
The European Union shares many objectives and values with Paraguay: democracy, equality, respect for human rights and diversity, care for the environment and sustainable development.
We continue to work hand in hand to achieve our goals and overcome global challenges, because together we are much stronger.
