Ambassador Jacques Fradin meets Prime Minister James Marape

On 14 November Ambassador Jacques Fradin had a courtesy call with Prime Minister James Marape. The meeting reconfirmed the strong historical ties between PNG and Europe and the importance of PNG-EU partnership, particularly on Climate Change-Forestry-Biodiversity, Human Development and Good Governance.

The Prime Minister also confirmed his government’s readiness to raise the level of PNG-EU relations, as one of the benchmarks of achievement for the PNG 50th anniversary of independence in 2025.

Courtesy call on Foreign Affairs Minister

Two days after the Head of Delegation to Papua New Guinea presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of PNG, the EU Ambassador  Jacques Fradin paid a courtesy call on PNG’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Justin Tkatchenko. Minister Tkatchenko and Ambassador Fradin gave assurance to each other that they will further strengthen and enhance the EU-PNG Partnership. The EU is committed to collaborate with PNG in its development journey and Ambassador Fradin is looking forward to building on the existing partnerships as well as create new ones in the areas that the EU and PNG share a common interest.

Today’s meeting with the Minister is following the EU Ambassador’s first call on the Foreign Affairs Secretary Elias Wohengu yesterday.

Presentation of credentials to Governor General of PNG

On 1st November, the new European Union Ambassador to Papua New Guinea Ambassador Jacques Fradin presented his Letters of Credence to the Governor-General of Papua New Guinea. During the presentation, Ambassador Fradin renewed the EU’s commitment to strengthen its relationship with PNG. The EU-PNG partnership has evolved from a classical donor-beneficiary relationship to a fully-pledged equal partnership on critical global issues such as good governance, human rights, water and sanitation, rural entrepreneurship, investment and trade, and Climate Change-Forestry and Biodiversity.
