Opportunities of possible cooperation in the area of cultural diplomacy was mentioned.  HR/VP Mogherini and Canadian Minister Dion also reviewed the current excellent cooperation between the EU and Canada, Canada being one of the closest strategic partners of the EU.  They looked forward to the further intensification of the EU-Canada relationship following last year's conclusion of the negotiations on the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA) and the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA). The SPA agreement will enrich the political dimension of the relationship and deepen ties across a wide range of sectors from foreign, security and defence policy, but also in areas such as education, transport, energy, the Arctic or science and technology.
