Statement by the Spokesperson on India's subscription to the Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation
On 1 June 2016 India announced its subscription to the Hague Code of Conduct against Ballistic Missile Proliferation (HCoC). This step will contribute to enhancing transparency and security among States in South Asia and beyond. All States which have not yet subscribed to the Code of Conduct, in particular those possessing space launch vehicles and ballistic missile capabilities, should follow this example.
HCoC, adopted in 2002, is a multilateral transparency and confidence-building instrument related to ballistic missiles. With India's accession, the number of subscribing States has reached 138. All 28 EU Member States subscribe to HCoC and the EU supports the universalisation and effective implementation of the Code.
