The Twinning Project “Strengthening sector monitoring, data management and payment administration” is a joint project between the Moldovan Republic, the Republic of Estonia and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, represented by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) of the Republic of Moldova as the central beneficiary and the National Agency for Interventions and Payments in Agriculture of the Republic of Moldova (AIPA), as well as Estonian Centre for International Development, the Centre of Estonian Rural Research and Knowledge, the Estonian Agricultural Registers and Information Board, the Ministry of Regional Affairs and Agriculture of Estonia and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency.

The overall objective of the project is to improve agriculture sector performance in line with the EU - Republic of Moldova Association Agreement, the EU Integration process, and international agreements.

The project is seeking an organised, motivated Assistant to the Resident Twinning Adviser (RTA Assistant), whose activities include assisting the RTA with co-ordination and management of the Twinning project. The project will start on the 1-st of February 2025 with the duration of 24 months.

The RTA Translation Assistant will be hired full time on a service contract and stationed in Chisinau. The RTA Translation Assistant shall not have been in any contractual relation with the public sector in the Moldovan Republic, during at least the 6 months preceding their hiring.

The tasks of the RTA Translation Assistant include: 

  • Providing general administrative assistance to the Resident Twinning Adviser (RTA), including managing schedules, preparing documents, and taking meeting minutes.
  • Assisting with translating and editing all documents related to the project activities, emails, reports, and meeting notes between English and Romanian. This includes both written translations and verbal support when needed.
  • Helping organize events, workshops, and activities related to the twinning programs, ensuring smooth logistics and supporting communication with international partners.
  • Tracking the progress of twinning initiatives, update project records, and prepare reports. Ensure key project documents are accessible in both English and Romanian. Help ensure clear communication with all stakeholders in both languages.
  • Providing assistance on ad hoc tasks as needed, including translating informal communications and providing language support during meetings or travel.

The RTA Translation Assistant will be recruited in accordance with the following selection criteria:

Required skills and experience:

  • University Degree, preferably in English Philology and/or experience with the translation and interpretation not less than 1 year;
  • Fluency in spoken and written in Romanian with an excellent command of written and spoken English and Russian is required;
  • Practical experience in day-to-day provision of translation and interpretation support to international advisors and experts;
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, attention to details, with the ability to work efficiently in all mentioned languages.
  • Proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite, etc.).
  • A high degree of independence, strong own initiative and flexibility, discretion and professionalism;
  • Strong intercultural and social competences;
  • Experience in international donor projects is a strong advantage (e.g. EU projects).
