EU Delegation to the Council of Europe’s participation at Charity Market – homemade cookies and recipe booklets in solidarity with Ukraine

The Council of Europe’s Amicale Charity Market for Ukraine combined tradition, culture, and compassion, raising funds to support two organisations in their project to provide essential psychological care for Ukrainian children. The EU Delegation to the Council of Europe contributed to this event by selling Christmas Recipe Booklets and Alsatian Christmas biscuits to support this meaningful cause.

On 4 December, the Council of Europe hosted the Amicale Charity Market for Ukraine. This remarkable event that celebrated the festive season while uniting efforts to support Ukrainian children affected by the ongoing Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

The EU Delegation to the Council of Europe proudly participated, joining other diplomatic representations displaying festive delicacies and cultural traditions. The EU Delegation stand featured:

  • A Christmas Recipe Booklet: a unique collection of holiday recipes contributed by all EU Member States’ Permanent Representations to the Council of Europe. Each recipe, from cherished sweets to traditional holiday dishes, was accompanied by a quote from Ambassadors on the cultural and personal significance of these traditions.
  • Homemade Alsatian Christmas Biscuits: adding a local, festive touch to the market.

The market’s proceeds were dedicated to supporting the “psychological support for children in crisis” project, which helps children cope with grief, adapt and survive loss. This critical initiative is led by the Émile Foundation and the Children of Heroes NGO. The Émile Foundation is an organisation focused on returning deported children to Ukraine and stabilising their lives upon return. As for the Children of Heroes, it is a grassroots NGO offering long-term support to children who have lost their parents due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine.

Thanks to the generosity of attendees, this Charity Market for Ukraine raised an impressive €18.418, making a profound impact on this vital cause.
