Overall Objective

Overall objective (i.e. impacts):
To create a sustainable tourism infrastructure in the cross-border area between Kosovo and Albania that contributes to the economic growth of the local communities, provides job opportunities for citizens, and preserves and promotes the region’s cultural and natural heritage.

Specific objective:
To create condition for tourism revenues and job opportunities for the local communities, improved management of natural and cultural resources, and enhanced cultural and environmental awareness among tourists and locals.

Summary of the Project

The proposed action aims to create a sustainable tourism infrastructure in the cross-border area between Kosovo and Albania while preserving and promoting the region’s cultural and natural heritage. This objective aligns with the thematic priorities and specific objectives of the call for proposals, which seek to enhance cross-border cooperation and sustainable development in the region.

Activities

1. A1.1 – Conduct training and education vocational programs for young people on tourism – hospitality, gastronomy, interpretation, freeride-skiing;

2. A1.2 – Upgrade the tourism infrastructure – trails, accessibility and interpretation;

3. A1.3.1 – Develop capacities of SMEs on creating new products, promotion and marketing;

4. A1.3.2 – Developed new adventure tourism products that combine nature resources , physical activities (hiking, skiing, climbing, mount-biking etc), and local culture;

5. A1.4 – Organise festivals, cultural events, and involve the local community in their promotion.

Results

1. Young people trained to enter the labor market and gain training in tourism – hospitality, gastronomy, interpretation, freeride-skiing;
2. Upgraded/Improved tourism infrastructure – trails, and points of interest;
3. Developed new adventure tourism products that combine nature resources, physical activities (hiking, skiing, climbing, mount-biking etc), and local culture..;
4. Created partnerships between the tourism industry and the local community to promote local values, such as festivals, cultural events, and cultural heritage.
