36th European Film Festival 2024 Concludes with Award Ceremony and Special Screenings
During the closing ceremony, the European Union Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas acknowledged the power of cinema to bring Europeans and Jordanians even closer together. He pointed to the dedicated event on Gaza: ‘It was important to pay tribute to all the innocent civilian victims of senseless wars. Demonizing brings war. But cinema can show humanity in action. European and Jordanian filmmakers bring compelling evidence that cinema can foster a culture of peace.’
The announcement of the Short Mobile Film competition winners was another highlight of the evening, shining a spotlight on the creative talents of emerging filmmakers in Jordan. A jury of film professionals announced the top three winners, celebrating their exceptional skill and innovation in the art of mobile filmmaking.
The evening concluded with a special screening of five Jordanian short films, demonstrating the talent and creativity of Jordanian filmmakers.
The Festival was organised by the European Union Delegation to Jordan in collaboration with the European Union Member States Embassies, the European National Institutes for Culture and the Royal Film Commission, under the patronage of H.R.H Princess Rym Ali.
