European Day of Languages 2024 is celebrated in Jordan
On 26 September, we mark the European Day of Languages 2024 at the Haya Cultural Center in Amman.
Around 500 students from public and privates schools are joining the European Union Delegation, European Embassies (Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and Poland) and European National Institutes for Culture to discover Europe’s linguistic diversity.
During this special day, European languages and cultures are displayed through various activities such as mini language courses, cooking workshops, quizzes and fun games, a treasure hunt, football games and even a music concert.
The European Day of Language has been celebrated with young Jordanians since 2012.
At the outset, the EU Ambassador to Jordan, Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas, highlighted the importance of language skills to foster people-to-people relations, cultural dialogue, and strengthen economic relations between Jordan and the European Union, emphasizing that everyone – from Jordan to Europe – should get a chance to acquire these skills.
