SECURALIM - Towards food sovereignty! Strengthening food production and the resilience of sustainable food systems

23.07.2024

The SECURALIM programme supports agro-pastoral production and food sovereignty in Mauritania

General objective: Food production and the resilience of food systems in Mauritania are significantly and sustainably improved.

Specific objective: The management of agro-pastoral farms is professionalised and their economic performance is improved in order to ensure a sustainable supply of accessible, high-quality products to urban centres.

Expected results:

R1. Socio-land tenure security guarantees investments by local professional (family-based) agro-pastoral farms and the coexistence of agricultural and pastoral activities.

R2. Hydro-agricultural facilities and infrastructure are built/rehabilitated and their value is enhanced and well managed by their users.

R3. Local professional (family-based) agro-pastoral farms have improved access to the key local services they need.

R4. An integrated approach based on supply basins is put into practice, enabling local agri-food industry players to be structured to target markets.
