Green Nomads campaign visited 13 universities in Kyrgyzstan involving 1,800 students
Bishkek, 16 November 2022 - Public Organization "Students of Kyrgyzstan for Green Economy" together with the Delegation of the European Union in the Kyrgyz Republic held a "Green Fest" – a conscious living festival, completing the national Green Nomads campaign.
The festival was held on November 11, 2022 in the Osmonov National Library. The event was opened with opening remarks by the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to the Kyrgyz Republic, Marilyn Josefson: "The EU Delegation gives priority to a green agenda and a green economy as an essential part of its work in Kyrgyzstan. We have been supporting dozens of large-scale regional and national projects on green economy and climate change adapted economy together with EU member states and development partners for years," said Marilyn Josefson.
During the event a fair of eco-products, book-crossing, eco-games, master-classes were organized, and the participants also became familiar with the climate change topics, proper nutrition for the benefit of themselves and nature, and explored other related topics through eco-lectures by prominent experts.
Earlier, public organization "Students for Green Economy" together with the EU Delegation held a country initiative "Green Nomads" in 13 universities in Kyrgyzstan.
From October 3 to November 2, 2022 a team of young activists went throughout 7 regions of Kyrgyzstan and visited 13 universities, where they talked about climate change, environmental protection, green technologies and professions of the future. More than 1,600 students and schoolchildren took part in the events.
The purpose of the event was to raise environmental awareness, environmental culture and promote the principles of respect for nature among students of universities of the Kyrgyz Republic. The initiative was implemented as part of the European Climate Diplomacy Week.
