Spotlight Initiative Programme in Tajikistan
The Initiative globally is responding to all forms of violence against women and girls, with a particular focus on domestic and family violence, sexual and gender-based violence and harmful practices, femicide, trafficking in human beings and sexual and economic (labour) exploitation.
In Tajikistan, the focus is on violence in the family and creating enabling environment for criminalization of the domestic violence.
Spotlight Initiative Programme in Tajikistan vision is to have women and girls enjoy their right to a life free of violence, within an inclusive and gender equitable Tajikistan. SPT duration is from January 1, 2020 to December 31, 2022, reaching 237,000 direct beneficiaries (84,000 women, 72,000 girls, 35,000 men, 45,000 boys) in 6 target districts of Sughd (B.Ghaffurov, Isfara), Khatlon (Vose, Yovon), regions of republican subordination (Rudaki, Hissor) and Dushanbe by 4 UN agencies: UNDP, UN Women, UNFPA, UNICEF in close partnerships with the Government counterparts and Civil Society Organizations with the overall budget of USD 5.6 million for Phase I (01.01.2020-31.12.2021).
Spotlight Initiative programme is based on a human rights-based approach and take into consideration the specific needs of women and girls who experience multiple and intersecting forms of discrimination and uphold the principle of “leaving no one behind” It is designed to deliver on the six outcome areas addressing the root causes and manifestations of Sexual and Gender Based Violence: Laws and policies, institutional strengthening, prevention, services, data management and CSOs and women’s movement. |
