The European Union is "unity in diversity". Traveling and studying in any of its member countries opens the door to a world of possibilities: 24 official languages and more than 100 indigenous regional languages. The diversity of cultural traditions is a powerful source of progress, innovation, economic development and social cohesion. Europe is the number one tourist destination in the world.
Visas
Our Delegation plays a very important role in the harmonized application of the common visa policy; however, it does not receive visa applications or issue visas. Applicants have to go to the Embassies/Consulates of the EU member countries in Nicaragua.
Since the signing of the Schengen agreements, it is possible to move freely from one country to another within the Schengen zone. A single visa, issued by the country from which the trip to Europe begins, allows you to visit all the countries of the Schengen area and cross internal borders without the need for additional formalities.
However, it should be noted that the European Union and the Schengen area are two different areas.
The Schengen visa
A Schengen visa can cover a period of maximum 90 days. Stays outside this period always require a residence and/or work permit. Foreigners who require a visa can stay in the Schengen countries for a maximum period of 90 days per 6 months, twice a year.
It is not allowed to work with a visa; to be able to work always requires a residence and work permit.
The visa will have to be issued by the country through which you are going to enter the Schengen area.
It is an essential requirement that the applicant has legal residence in the country in which the application is submitted.
In addition to the visa application (in which you use the standard Schengen visa application document and present the required number of copies), you must submit: two current colour photos (with a white background of passport size), a supplementary diagram, documentation of the purpose of the visit, proof of travel medical insurance, bank statements and documentation of the place of study or work (if applicable). It is extremely important that all documentation is delivered at once; otherwise, the application may be rejected.
Foreigners residing in Nicaragua
The European Commission, based on the European Union regulations regarding the issuance of visas for transit or for stays in the territory of the Member States not exceeding three months in a period of six months, has proceeded to complete, harmonize and publish a list of supporting documents for the Schengen visa application in the case of foreigners residing in Chile, Kazakhstan (Almaty and Astana), Nicaragua and Nigeria (Abuja and Lagos).

Scholarships
Erasmus + is the European scholarship program with the greatest impact in the world. Every year welcomes more than 400 thousand students from different parts of the world, with a budget that between 2014 -2020 is almost 15 billion euros.
Erasmus was born in the 1980s to improve higher education and promote cooperative relations between countries.
During more than 34 years of existence, the Erasmus program has provided opportunities for more than 10 million students, teachers and researchers around the world. In the case of Nicaraguan students, more than 275 have obtained an Erasmus scholarship to study in the EU.
The Erasmus + program offers full scholarships through a competitive process and allows you to study in two or more countries of the 27 member countries of the European Union.
