Message from the Ambassador
Dear visitors,
It's a privilege and an honour to start my assignment as EU Ambassador in Montenegro, after spending much of my career working on the Western Balkans. Together with my team in the Delegation, I will be fully committed to bringing the country ever closer to the EU.
This website is your trusted source of information. In it, you will find news about the European Union’s support to Montenegro's EU accession journey. It covers political meetings, outreach activities, EU-funded projects, funding opportunities, calls for applications, and more.
Since Montenegro began accession negotiations in 2012, the EU integration process has been a key transformative force in the country, bringing tangible benefits to Montenegrin citizen even ahead of the country’s accession.
Most recently, at the EU-Montenegro Intergovernmental Conference in Brussels in June 2024, the country reached a major milestone in rule of law reforms, paving the way to faster EU integration.
As Montenegro draws closer to its final goal, the need to engage with the public and keep them informed grows increasingly important.
I deeply appreciate the steadfast support Montenegrin citizens have consistently shown for the European Union and Montenegro's accession. I also greatly value Montenegro’s rich ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity. With this in mind, my team and I will focus on maintaining open dialogue and communication with stakeholders from all walks of life and backgrounds.
While this website is important we are engaging with the public through many more means of communication. You will find us actively participating in public events at our Europe House and throughout the country. Please follow me on X @josattler and Instagram @josattlermne.
