About the Ambassador
Get to know Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks
Before joining the EU Delegation to the Republic of Moldova, Ambassador Jānis Mažeiks was Under-Secretary of State, Political Director in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Latvia. He formerly served as Latvian Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York. Ambassador Mažeiks holds a degree in political science and a master's degree in human rights and democratization.

I welcome you to the official website of the European Union Delegation to the Republic of Moldova!
The EU Delegation is here to contribute to the development of the relationship and partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova.
The relations of the European Union and the Republic of Moldova are on solid ground: we have the Association Agreement as the basis of our relationship, Moldovan citizens have the possibility to travel visa free to EU states, our trade is greatly enhanced by the DCFTA, the European Union provides a very high level of assistance for the reform process in the Republic of Moldova.
The Moldovan citizens have voted for the path of closer cooperation with the European Union, for strengthening the rule of law and democratic reforms in Moldova. The Delegation of the European Union together with European institutions and Member States will continue to work on a daily basis to support state institutions and the society of the Republic of Moldova in close cooperation with all political, economic, social partners and the civil society on the path of reforms.
We work to promote the EU-Moldova cooperation on the basis of common interests and shared values. We also work to improve the lives of the people of the Republic of Moldova through very tangible projects.
