Who we are
The Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Mali is the interface between the European institutions and the institutions and populations of Mali. These countries belong to the group of African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) countries with which the EU has cooperative relations.
From a simple financial backer intervening in infrastructure and agricultural projects, the EU has become a real political actor interested in security, conflict management and prevention, as well as in democracy and good governance. As an economic partner, the EU advocates a comprehensive approach addressing the trade system as well as macroeconomic and sectoral policies.

Our role and our mission
The Delegation of the European Union has been present in Mali since 1958. This long-term partnership brings with it a rich and diverse experience which is the basis of its current activities.
The main functions are as follows:
- Representation of the European Union and conduct of political dialogue with the Malian State and civil society.
- Support for initiatives promoting the development of trade with Europe in the field of trade.
- Partner for sustainable development and the fight against poverty.
- Coordination of policies carried out in collaboration with the Member States of the European Union, the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Breton Woods institutions, the United Nations agencies, as well as with other donors.
In addition, like any diplomatic mission, the Delegation is the interface between the headquarters and the authorities of Mali and plays an important role in the analysis of the local situation both from a political and economic point of view, thus contributing to the definition of the strategy of the European Union vis-à-vis Mali and the sub-region, as well as the programming of cooperation.
