About the Ambassador

Ambassador Daerr transferred to his new duties from the Cabinet of EU High Representative Josep Borrell Fontelles, whom he served as Political Adviser, covering the Middle East, North Africa and Iran since 2019, before being nominated to lead the Delegation in Malaysia starting 1 September 2024.

In over two decades of his diplomatic career, he also worked on Parliamentary Affairs in the European External Action Service (EEAS) in Brussels, as Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany in Iran and as Senior Adviser in the European Parliament.

Ambassador Daerr holds a Master in International Economic Law from Sorbonne University, Paris and a Master of Arts in European Political and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe, Bruges.

Born in Japan, Ambassador Daerr’s mother tongues are German and French, and he is also fluent in English and Spanish.

Ambassador Daerr presented his credentials to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim on 21 October 2024.
