Visa requirements for travelling to the European Union
For travelling to a member state of the European Union, Libyan citizens need a visa. The EU Delegation to Libya does not issue visas
Visa requirements for visiting the EU are as follows:
Schengen area (26 countries)
Libyan nationals must have a visa when travelling to the Schengen area.
Generally, a short-stay visa issued by any Schengen country entitles its holder to travel in any of the 26 countries for up to 3 months (in a 6-month period).
For longer visits, you will need to obtain a visa from the national authorities in the country/ies concerned.
Schengen visa holders are usually required to enter the Schengen area via the country that issued the visa.
Non-Schengen (6 countries)
Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Ireland, and Romania are not part of the Schengen area.
To travel to these countries, contact the national authorities about visa requirements.
Travelling during COVID-19 pandemic
A temporary restriction on non-essential travel to the EU is currently in place from many non-EU countries
To slow down the spread of coronavirus some travel restrictions have been implemented for travel into the EU from third countries. The concrete requirements for travel into an EU member state may vary from country to country. Before starting a trip to Europe, travellers should therefore consult the national embassy or consulate of the EU member state they intend to travel to.
