What we do
Main mission and role of the Delegation
The main mission of the EU Delegation is to represent the Union and its citizens in the Republic of Guinea and to promote the values and defend the interests of the Union.
Within this framework, the Delegation monitors and strengthens EU-Guinea bilateral relations in the political, economic, trade, cooperation, and human rights fields. It analyses the political situation in the country and reports to headquarters in Brussels. Through its public diplomacy activities the Delegation raises the EU's profile and make it better known and understood.
Located in Conakry, the European Union Delegation has the status of a diplomatic mission and fulfils a function similar to that of an embassy. Its country representative has the title of EU Ambassador.
The Delegation is not responsible for consular matters, which are the responsibility of the Member States. It therefore does not issue visas or passports.
The Delegation does not grant aid to individuals or companies apart from calls for proposals, which can be consulted on this website.
Ambassador Jolita PONS has been heading the Delegation since September 2022.
