United for development and prosperity

The Delegation of the European Union in Guatemala began its activities in 1997 as a Delegation of the European Commission after the signing of the Peace Agreements that led to the intensification of cooperation actions between Guatemala and the EU. 

As of December 1, 2009 it became the Delegation of the European Union in Guatemala. 

After almost 25 years, this mission continues to work for: 

  • Representing the EU.
  • Promoting political, economic and trade relations.
  • Following up and support  supporting cooperation actions of the European Commission in Guatemala, in coordination with those of the Member States.
  • Ensuring the implementation of EU policies in all sectors.
  • Promoting and defending the values and interests of the EU.
  • Participating in negotiation processes with C.A. 

Our work motto is "United for Development and Prosperity", something we work together with Guatemalans to achieve day by day.

Political, Press and Information Section

The Political, Press and Information Section monitors and analyses political, legal and economic developments in Guatemala and reaches out to political stakeholders, civil society and the media. The section also coordinates the public communication of the European Union in Guatemala.

Cooperation Section

The Cooperation Section manages, coordinates and oversees all aspects of the European Union financial co-operation in Guatemala.

Administration Section
