Training and Mentoring Group at EUMAM MOZ

07.02.2025 EUMAM Mozambique

Maputo, Mozambique - The aim of the European Union Military Assistance Mission in Mozambique (EUMAM MOZ) is to support Mozambican Defence Armed Forces (FADM) in developing and enhancing capabilities, which improve the sustainability of the trained Quick Reaction Forces (QRF) in order for them to operate especially in the Cabo Delgado region in a robust and autonomous operational cycle.

To achieve this, a new operational structure has been created within EUMAM MOZ, the Training and Mentoring Group (TMG), a unit composed of officers and non-commissioned officers with a wide variety of different specialties.

The TMG is prepared to carry out both mentorship and specialized training for the FADM QRF, primarily through a "Train the Trainers" approach. This includes specialized training in the use of equipment provided by the European Peace Facility, specialized capacity building in Counter Improvised Explosive Devices, and assistance to the FADM in operational planning and logistical support. The ultimate goal is to collaborate with the FADM to ensure that their units maintain their training and logistical sustainment capabilities, thereby achieving a robust operational cycle for the QRF.

Additionally, a very important and cross-cutting aspect of all mentoring and training activities is reinforcing the necessary knowledge of the principles enshrined in International Humanitarian Law and International Human Rights Law, which must be present in any military operation.
