Launched 1 september 2024, the EUMAM Mozambique Mission is one of the 22 missions (civilian and military) under the Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP). The Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) is the European Union Military body responsible for the operational planning and conduct of the EU non-executive military missions where EUMAM-MOZ is integrated

The Mission Support Cell (MSC) from EUMAM-MOZ, located in Brussels, provides coordination and liaison between the mission and the MPCC, without prejudice to the chain of command, as a functional and primary relationship for the provision of information related to the mission.

The MSC is responsible to participate in all meetings and conferences, related with mission, at MPCC level and represent the MFCdr in all mission relevant activities that take place in Brussels. In close cooperation with MPCC, assist in the coordination of high-level visits and it’s prepared to deliver briefings on EUMAM to ensure VIPs are kept informed with accurate information about the mission.

The MSC Officer is also the representative of the Mission Force Commander (MFCdr) on the Mission Monitoring team and provide the updated status of all aspects of EUMAM (manning, shortfalls, ongoing and upcoming activities, MFCdr concerns, etc.)

In short, the MSC acts as the link between the mission as a whole, on the ground, and the upper echelon found in Brussels.
