EUMAM-MOZ Force Protection Team
The FPT is comprised of 12 elements from the Romanian Special Forces. The team is responsible for the security of the EUMAM-MOZ personnel and their property, in accordance with European standards. This is done to guarantee their safety during the execution of the mission, to ensure a permanent individual and collective self-defence of the mission, depending on the situational awareness, and to minimise the vulnerability of the personnel.
To achieve this objective, the FPT carries out defense plan exercises to keep all EUMAM-MOZ personnel ready in case of need. They also regularly practice their own Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) as a team.

All activities conducted by the FPT are done in compliance with the International Humanitarian Law (IHL), the International Human Rights Law (IHRL) and the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda. These values that are among the cornerstones of the European Union (EU).
Since 2022, the Romanian Special Operations Forces have been contributing with specialised personnel to the EUMAM-MOZ FPT. These forces are prepared to conduct specific missions at a high level in high-risk environments. Moreover, the FPT supervises, monitors, inspects and coordinates the security of the HQ in close collaboration with the local security forces to guarantee the physical security of the training, living and working areas.

EUMAM-MOZ is composed by 80 military and civilian personnel from 10 European Union member states, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, France, Greece, Italy, Lithuania, Portugal, Romania, Spain and one non-European Union member state, Serbia.
10 different countries, one main objective: to ensure that Defence Armed Forces of Mozambique become self-sufficient, thus contributing to create a safer and more secure environment in Cabo Delgado. This is part of the EU response to the request of the Government of Mozambique to address the crisis in Cabo Delgado, including through humanitarian aid, peacebuilding, security and development.
