About EUMAM Mozambique

Following the successful results of the EUTM Mozambique, the long-lasting EU military partnership with Mozambique continues with EU Military Assistance Mission Mozambique (EUMAM Moz).

The Council launched EU Training Mission (EUTM) Mozambique on 15 October 2021, upon a request from the Mozambican government to support their armed forces through a training and capacity building mission. It trained selected Mozambican units to compose 11 Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs) to help the local armed forces in their efforts to bring back safety and security to Cabo Delgado.

Mandate

Launched on 1 September 2024, EUMAM Mozambique helps the QRF of the Forças Armadas de Defesa de Moçambique (FADM) to achieve a sustainable operational cycle in accordance with International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and International Human Rights Law (IHRL) not later than June 2026.

This covers the preparation, deployment and support. In this way a significant contribution to a safe and secure environment for the people of Cabo Delgado is made.
