Synopsis
Poland, the 19th century: in a small village, beautiful peasant girl Jagna falls in love with Antek, a married man; while also forced to marry Antek's father, a rich old widow. From this point on, the young girl's life becomes filled with turmoil, gossip and jealousy from the other villagers.
Adapted from the classic eponymous novel by Polish writer Wladyslaw Reymont (Nobel Prize for Literature in 1924), the film was produced by the team behind 'Loving Vincent', making use of similarly ambitious techniques which combined animation, acting and about 80,000 oil paintings.
