WEDIN EU members wear orange in solidarity with victims of violence, on their second annual gathering in Brussels
During the event, Women diplomats from EU Member States and the EEAS, including leaders of networks of Member States’ Ministries for Foreign Affairs, had the opportunity to share positive experiences and success stories of their own networks, discuss challenges, ways to facilitate women diplomats’ careers and exchanged on the important role of women in diplomacy, and more broadly the promotion of gender equality and non-discrimination in diplomacy worldwide.
Participants reflected on the way forward for their national networks and discussed a working programme for WEDIN EU 2024.
This year the event also took a novel approach which included two inspiring workshops on ‘Inclusive Communication to eliminate Gender Bias at Work’, and ‘Gender Responsive Leadership’.
Via the WEDIN EU network, EU Member States and the EEAS further commit to advance the EU’s values of diversity and inclusion, and to support gender equality and non-discrimination through their work in the rest of the world.
As the gathering took place in the week leading up to the International Day to end Violence against Women, the women diplomats joined the global #OrangeTheWorld initiative by wearing an orange accessory, as a symbolic gesture of solidarity with victims and survivors of violence.
