Europe Day Statement by the Chairperson of the Parliament Kakhaber Kutchava
Chairperson of the Georgian Parliament has issued a statement for Europe Day:
Congratulations on the Europe Day!
May 9, 1950 laid a foundation for a united, peaceful and prosperous Europe.
Culturally, historically and politically, Georgia has always been a part of Europe. Georgia shares common European values, including respect for human rights and the rule of law, peaceful development, well-being of people, and opportunities for self-realization for all groups of the society.
Membership in the larger European family is a historic choice of the Georgian people. Since the first day after restoration of Georgia's independence, the European Union has supported the country in achieving our domestic and external objectives. This support has been invaluable, setting an excellent example of European solidarity.
Georgia has already achieved significant and tangible results on its way back to the European family. With our determination, and following a consistent plan, we will soon become a full EU member. The Parliament of Georgia will support Georgia's European integration process and will lay the groundwork for a new phase of the Georgia-EU relationship through reforms.
Georgia is going to apply for full EU membership in 2024.
Once again, Happy Europe Day!
