EU-Indo-Pacific High Level Virtual Conference on Climate Change: Cooperating towards a successful outcome at COP26.
The two days conference will be a public event and is intended to provide for high level engagement with the Indo-Pacific region in the run-up to COP-26 (1-12 November 2021, Glasgow) to help ensure its success, with a focus on the Pacific Island States which see eye to eye with the EU on key issues of climate change. It is anticipated that the Conference will showcase a communality of views between the EU and key partners in the Indo-Pacific on matters of adaptation, including finance, specifically, and also as regards the need for a number of key countries, notably the G20, to step up their efforts in significantly reducing greenhouse gases, in this decade.
7 October 2021, will be the first day of the conference (7:00pm-8:00pm Fiji time) with participation from the Executive Vice-President for the European Green Deal Frans Timmermans, Prime Minister of Fiji Mr Frank Bainimarama, President of Marshall Islands H.E David Kabua, Prime Minister of Samoa Ms Naomi Mata’afa, Leaders and Ministers from the Indo-Pacific region.

On the second day (8 October 2021), starting at 6:00pm (Fiji time), the European Union will host a virtual panel discussions with participation from representatives of civil society, media, business community and academia in the Indo-Pacific region, ahead of COP26.
