When, on February 24 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine, I didn’t know much about that country. I knew of the Klitschko brothers and was aware of the fact one of them is the mayor of Kyiv. And I had heard that Ukraine is a young democracy.

I feel that the Ukrainians who have come to Europe now have much to offer. They are so bright, progressive and good with technology. Their children love to go to school. They adjust very quickly and learn German so fast, it’s absolutely incredible.

And the sense of community and mutual support Ukrainians seem to have as a default setting is just breathtaking.
