ABOUT US
Who we are
In Ecuador, the European Union is present with a Delegation since 2003 and with a credited Ambassador since 2016. Currently, the EU works to:
- Strengthen the bonds with the country based on equal association and mutual respect of Human Rights, the State of Right and Democracy.
- Implement its Cooperation Multiannual Indicative Programme that focuses on green, sustainable and inclusive projects.
- Achieve sustainable development for all through commerce, investment and broader exchange of science and innovation.
What we do
Not long ago, the external actions of the European Union focused on three main aspects: political dimension, trade and assistance for development. These elements offered valuable instruments to implement an external policy important for diplomacy, economy and commerce.
The constant changes of the world demand a constant adaptation of the foreign policies and priorities of the European Union. This is why, currently, the defence of human rights and peace and international security, conflict prevention –including those of internal character- and the protection of the environment are now the fundamental objectives of the external policy of the EU.
The main activities of the Delegation in Ecuador include:
- Represent the European Union before national authorities.
- Coordinate with EU Member state Embassies present in Ecuador and with the Union presidency.
- Cooperate with public entities and civil society organisations represented in Ecuador.
- Provide direct humanitarian aid through the ECHO office in Ecuador.
- Provide information through publications and press bulletins to the press, webpage and social media.
