Call for Proposals to Protect Biodiversity and Promote Sustainable Development in the Mid Zambezi and South East Lowveld Regions - EuropeAid/183200/DD/ACT/ZW

05.12.2024

The European Union Delegation in Zimbabwe is pleased to announce the publication of a call for proposals to support non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in implementing projects that promote the conservation of natural resources, reduce vulnerability, and increase resilience of local communities in the Mid Zambezi and South East Lowveld regions, both renowned for their rich biodiversity and wildlife populations.

Through this call for proposals, the EU and the Government of Zimbabwe aim to promote sustainable land use practices, develop and implement adequate land and resource management plans, and support job creation and sustainable livelihood opportunities while preserving ecosystems and their wildlife.

This call for proposals is part of the EU's efforts to empower civil society organisations to contribute to the protection of biodiversity in Zimbabwe. We invite NGOs to submit their proposals for projects that align with these priorities and contribute to the protection of biodiversity and promotion of sustainable development.

The priorities of this call for proposals are:

  1. Promotion of wildlife conservation: protecting wildlife corridors, reducing habitat degradation, and halting biodiversity loss in protected areas and surrounding communities.
  2. Mitigation of Human-Wildlife Conflict: safeguarding both human and wildlife populations and reducing the impact of conflict on local communities.
  3. Increased resilience of communities: supporting communities living near well-preserved natural areas to adapt to climate change and other environmental challenges.
