On the International Day of the Girl (11 October) a youth activist and a talented child actress Thabo Kaamba became EU Ambassador to Zambia for a day as part of the “Girls Takeover Campaign “.

Thabo and the EU Ambassador

Thabo brilliantly juggled multiple responsibilities as she stepped in the role of representing the EU in Zambia. At the Environmental Protection Dialogue she delivered a powerful message on rights and environment, and was appreciated as a major young voice of her generation by the audience.

Thabo recorded a message to the ”Count Me In” Podcast on empowering women and youth. As part of the EU’s support to transforming the aviation sector in Zambia, Thabo also congratulated new Graduates of the Southern Africa Institute of Aviation Science and Technology, of which 90% were women.

Graduation

Girls Takeover is a powerful way to inspire girls to pursue their dreams and to inspire others to see what girls can achieve already now.

How was the experience for Thabo?

Ms Thabo

She said "being EU Ambassador for a day exposed me to the world of Diplomacy. It aligns with my dream of representing my country, Zambia, through story-telling and advocating for diversity and inclusion, the causes I am passionate about."
